Therapy

At ClinPsychConsulting we offer a variety of therapeutic interventions that are tailored for your specific needs.

When you come for therapy, be it as individual, with your family, or in a group, the first session will typically last 90 minutes. You will meet with one clinical psychologist and they will spend time to discuss:

  • Your key concerns

  • Whether you have had any contact with mental health services previously

  • What has and has not worked well so far

  • Your hopes and expectations

  • Strengths and resources

  • Your child's physical, social, emotional and cognitive development (child clients only)

  • Our recommendations for therapy, resources and practical strategies

Please speak to us if you would like a written summary of our assessment including resources, strategies and recommendations.

Individual Therapy

Therapy sessions at ClinPsych Consulting last 50 minutes. We do offer extended sessions if desired.

While we tailor every intervention to the individual, a representative course of therapy is likely to be:

• Initial sessions - identifying goals and patterns that might lead you to feel stuck.

• Later sessions - putting strategies into practice and problem solving.

• Final sessions - identifying possible future challenges and helpful strategies.

• Follow-up - once therapy ends you will have the option to arrange a follow-up check-in session if needed. You are always welcome to come back but we encourage our clients to take a break between therapeutic interventions.

You will not be forced to talk about anything you are uncomfortable with and can tell us if you have a preference about who joins the sessions.

Sessions can be facilitated online or in-person. For fees please click here

Therapeutic Parenting Course

We offer a 6-week therapeutic parenting course based on Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

The course typically runs on a Saturday 10:00-12:30 with weekly check-in phone calls in between. Once you have registered your interest in the course, we will carry out an initial assessment to get an understanding of the difficulties your family may be experiencing, and determine whether this is the right course for you. This is standard practice at ClinPsych Consulting as we want the course to be of the most benefit to you and your family.

Course dates

We currently run the course three times a year, typically in the spring, autumn and winter. If you are interested please contact us
